Resident Evil, A Table-top Game?

Many of you reading this article will most likely remember the long running video game franchise that has been scaring people and delivering cheesy one-liners since the mid 90s.

Resident Evil.

It doesn’t matter what game you started with, weather or not you had to keep the lights on at night when you played or how many times you had to restart due to an impossible situation. The games gripped you and now you can’t get enough of the popular survival-horror franchise. That’s why I’m writing this, to let you know that there are multiple ways to play even at the dinner table. The Resident Evil Deck Building Game was published by Bandai in 2008 and I was lucky enough to find a copy of the base set at an early market price. Now, the R.E. Deck Building Game base set goes for 150$+, but there are other alternatives today.

There are expansions that give you everything you’ll need to play, both Alliance and Mercenaries are great introductions into the R.E. deck building game. Though I would lean more toward the Alliance expansion and as it just so happens it is the cheapest on the day this article is published. However, the deck building games aren’t the only way to enjoy Resident Evil with your friends and family. Some time after the Resident Evil 2 Remake was announced in 2012, a kickstarter was put up for the Resident Evil 2 Board Game. It has since reached its goal and was released in early 2019. While The R.E. deck building game is fun it is also old and to get all 5 expansions will get quite expensive. The Resident Evil 2 Board Game on the other hand came out recently, due to that both it and the following Expansions are very affordable.

My friends and I have had an absolute blast learning how to play and continuing to play both the deck building and figurine based Resident Evil table-top games. I’ve linked them in both this article and on a sperate Mentioned Products page so go check them out. The only thing you have to loose is a boring night with nothing to do.

Thanks for reading.

J.C. Whetsell.
